Sawasdee kha readers!
Boy has Bangkok been a fun ride! I am so excited to get into it with all of you.
In Thailand, 'Grab', another form of Uber, is commonly used for transportation. We're using it often since rides are only ~$3-5, but we're also walking a lot. Our first day started with taking a Grab to the Grand Palace, which used to be home to the Thai King. It was absolutely incredible with very detailed and colorful architecture.

After that, we went to Wang Lang market by boat across the Chao Praya River, which had tasty, traditional street food. Eats included (again not all eats were eaten by both).
Pork and noodles in broth
Fried chicken with rice
Thai mini-stuffed pancakes
Chicken and pork skewers
Mango sticky rice (eating this was a euphoric moment)

Then, we saw Wat Arun and Wat Pho, two Buddhist temples with again, unbelievable architecture. Wat Arun was massive and Wat Pho had the largest Buddha statue I've ever seen (and it was leaning!). Ian said, “When they asked Buddha if he wanted a temple of him leaning on his side, he replied Wat Pho?” Master of comedy. On our way to the Wat Pho, we stopped for Thai tea. As it was being made, we realized it would have ice, but we were trying to avoid drinking the water. To make sure we stuck to our promise, we quickly chugged the Thai tea before the ice could melt. Easy fix.

Later, we visited Khao San Road, a popular road with street food vendors. For a heat exhaustion break, we stopped for local beers and pad thai - the best pad thai we've ever tasted. So far we've been eating the street food and our digestive systems have survived, so fingers crossed! We called a Grab home to take a little rest. When I found the car with the right license plate number, I realized it was a taxi and not an actual car. This made me confused. Were Grabs also taxis? What made me even more confused was when we hopped in he asked where we were going. Then, I got out of the car to double check there wasn't a legit car behind me and the driver was very confused. It was all very confusing. Anyway, went home for a little break and then went to Chinatown for dinner. Our goal was to go to rooftop bars afterward, but then we accidentally ate too much food at the markets in Chinatown. Our stomachs were so full and we couldn't think about drinking, so instead we watched White Lotus and fell into a deep slumber.
